Service: Specialist Training and Employment Programme (STEP)

Phone: 01274 739926 | Email : step@hortonhousing.co.uk STEP helps Syrian Refugees who have come to the UK under the Vulnerable Persons’ Relocation Scheme (VPRS) to gain employment. A specialist training and employment worker will give you one-to-one support and advice on courses, volunteering and work placement opportunities. The worker will also help you find paid employment vacancies with local and national employers. STEP continues to offer support when you have found a work placement or paid employment. Through STEP you can access English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) classes to improve your language skills. The service helps you to gain skills, qualifications and references needed to be ready for work. The programme is funded by and delivered in partnership with World Jewish Relief. Phone 01274 739926 | Email: hortontraining@hortonhousing.co.uk Horton Housing Training Centre Horton Housing Training Centre is available for clients aged 18+ who need to access employment, training and educational courses. We provide a service to people who may have been excluded from school or other services in the past, or are experiencing problems, including substance and alcohol misuse, homelessness or mental health problems. Tutors deliver non-accredited courses such as Personal Development, Confidence Building, Assertiveness, Communication for Employment and Tenancy Ready Training. We are open every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 9am – 4pm and every Wednesday from 9am – 3pm. The Training Centre is well-equipped with a full IT suite and classrooms.
